The Jersey Giant chicken is the largest of all the chickens. Although they are large bodied, they are one of the most gentle and docile birds you can have. They are ideal for backyard or barnyard flocks. Their large size makes them less of a target from predators. They are the same or larger size of a red-tailed hawk so they present a deterrence from attack. Jersey Giants are friendly and get along well with humans and other chickens alike. And they lay a good deal of eggs and provide a decent amount of meat. They can forage for a lot of their food, but will also be close by during feeding time.
